You change the oil in the car and check the air in your tires, right?

Dr. Barter is a firm believer in preventive medicine.  She encourages people who consider themselves healthy to come in for a tune-up and health optimization once per season, or four times per year.  Many people who think they already are healthy are amazed at how much better they feel with just a little bit of preventative maintenance.  Common feedback from clients who utilize the preventative medicine approach is experiencing increased energy and stamina, fewer aches and pains, better sleep and digestion, and less frequent illness.
People understand the need to maintain their vehicle with regular oil changes, tire rotations, fluid top-offs and the like.  If a car needs regular maintenance, a human body certainly deserves routine care as well.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Natural medicine is at its very best when used preventatively.  It’s far easier to prevent most of the common ailments than to fix them once they’ve set in.  Catching imbalances in the body before they turn into illness or disease is one of the major advantages of utilizing natural medicine diagnostics and therapeutics.

Are your labs normal but you still have symptoms?
Thanks to her highly specialized Naturopathic training, Dr. Barter is an expert in finding out from the labs you’ve already had performed what’s causing your symptoms.  Whereas most conventional physicians are only looking for parameters that fall outside of a very wide “normal” range, she is trained to read results that give hints about vitamin and mineral deficiencies, chronic hidden infections, chemical toxicity, chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, and many other contributing factors to illness that frequently go undiscovered on routine lab review.
Dr. Barter is interested in optimal function of all body systems, not merely the absence of red flags. She will go over these details with you whether you’re in her office or consulting via phone.
